About the Shepard Communications Group
Our Values
Contagious passion, a sense of wonder,
excellence in everything I do, a deeply felt sense of satisfaction that
is shared with my customer, a commitment to intellectual porosity, and
a desire to make a difference, not just a living, are who I am, not what
I do.
Who We Are and
What We Do
Shepard Communications Group provides industry analysis, training and
consulting services to component and device manufacturers, service providers,
regulatory agencies, professional services firms, universities, advertising
agencies, venture capital firms, vertical industry sectors, and global
economists. All services are offered in both English and Spanish and are
always customized for the market in which they are delivered.
Our
Primary Services Include:
- Executive briefings, market analyses, strategy sessions, and
technology overviews designed to make the profound telecommunications
and IT-related changes that are underway in business today meaningful
to participants. These classes are delivered to the senior management
teams and boards of directors of more than 70 major manufacturers, service
providers, professional services firms, and vertical industry players.
They are also offered in a slightly different form to sales and marketing
organizations.
- A broad selection of telecommunications technology courses,
ranging from high-level overviews for middle and upper-level management
to technical courses for engineering and implementation managers.
- Surveys of international telecommunications, both
country-specific and of a general nature, help businesses assess the
telecommunications infrastructure in countries and regions where they
plan to establish operations, and help them understand the cultural,
geopolitical and economic considerations that they must consider before
establishing a presence.
- Supply Chain Management Consulting that helps corporations
understand the strengths and weaknesses within their own supply chain.
Services include spend analysis, contract analysis, back room system
audits, and organizational performance analysis.
- Product Training that helps technical sales and marketing
personnel understand the competitive nature of the market they sell
into, the actions of their competitors, the current market drivers,
and the features, functions and benefits of their own products. These
are created on a custom basis and tailored for each audience.
- Cross-Cultural Transition services. These seminars
help employees and their families prepare for expatriation as well as
for the far more complex task of repatriation/re-entry.
- Curriculum design. These include performance problem
analysis, development of instructional objectives, gap analysis, testing
services, and selection of delivery media.
- Sales and Marketing Curricula. A range of courses
that include sales techniques, marketing strategy, presentation skills,
technical writing, business case development, and customer analysis.
- Materials development. These services include the
creation of course materials, product literature, video and audio scripts,
and other written products.
- Multiple media services. Instructor-led training,
while highly effective, is not the only way to deliver educational services.
In addition to instructor-led courses we have developed and delivered
real-time video-based training (distance learning), asynchronous Web-based
training, teletraining (via audio bridge and Web-based content), computer-based
training products, interactive CDs, custom-made audio and video programs,
written work books, and a variety of others. In every case the medium
is specifically selected to meet or exceed the training requirements
of the audience. Our strong relationship with global videoconferencing
provider Proximity Inc. makes it extremely easy to provide low-cost
training services to any number of locations.
All of these products and services are available in either English or
Spanish. Other languages can be easily accommodated through our longstanding
relationships with simultaneous translation services throughout the world.
Our
Mission:
Our mission has three components.
First, we help sales and marketing professionals understand
the technologies that underlie the products and services they represent
and sell. Second, we help technical professionals understand
the markets and services that their technologies enable. Third, we help
operations personnel maximize the efficiency of the supply chain for optimal
effectiveness through systems analysis and technology audits. Finally,
we work with corporate senior management to ensure that the company’s
strategic direction is in line with market demand and the capabilities
of current technology. In short, we create customer focus through enhanced
market and industry awareness.
The
Process
Our job is to resolve your business challenge with a viable, cost-effective
and timely solution. To achieve this we follow a series of logically sequenced
steps.
First: We listen. We analyze what you have to say, we
ask questions, we probe, and we test.
Second, we analyze the market in which you operate.
We assess the competition, examine your product set, and test both your
and our assumptions.
Third, we develop a set of solution scenarios based
on the data collection process described in step two. Again, we test with
you to select the best solution to the problem at hand.
Finally, we implement the solution and monitor its effectiveness,
making course corrections as required.
How
We Do What We Do
Our expertise allows us to (1) offer a precise solution to your business
challenge, and (2) select the most appropriate solution. For example,
if our analysis dictates that an instructor-led class is the best solution
for a training challenge, we will encourage you to pursue that option.
If video, Web-based delivery, audio or CBT is a more appropriate option,
that is the option we will recommend. We will always, however, present
alternatives with the advantages and disadvantages of each. We are not
“locked into” any particular medium; we use the one that works
best for you, not us.
